Problems Sending Mail (SMTP)
In case you receive the error 'Relaying denied' while sending mail, go through the following:
For security reasons, it is essential that you log in to our
POP servers before you can send mail from an email
client. To do this, your email client will need to
receive new messages before attempting to send
messages.
If your email client sends mail first when you
click "Send/Receive," you may need to click
"Send/Receive" twice. If you can't send mail after
several tries, move messages out of the Outbox,
attempt to receive with an empty Outbox, and
then try to send your message again.
If you try both of the above steps and continue to
have problems, please make sure that you have
entered your Mail Address as the "From"
address in your email client. You will not be able
to send mail if you have entered another address.
Some ISPs do not allow their users to send
messages with other companies' SMTP outgoing
mail servers. If you have set the "Outgoing Mail
(SMTP) Server" field in to
mail.domainname.com and find that you can
receive but cannot send messages, you may have
to use your ISP server's address, rather than
this. Please contact your ISP for the SMTP
server address to enter.
Note: Outgoing SMTP service should be available from your ISP. OwnMail provides
outgoing SMTP service on an as-is basis using POP authentication. Due to the
requirement to stop SPAM, such authentication will not work always. For problem
free access, it is best to take outgoing service from your ISP.
