Using Check Other Email link you can directly download your Hotmail, Yahoo mail, Ownmail or any POP3 mail and put them in the folder of your choice.

POP (Post Office Protocol) is an Internet mail handling standard that allows differing computers to retrieve mail from a mailbox on any mail server which supports the POP protocol. POP3 is simply version 3 of the POP standard.

If you have clicked on the Check Other Email link in the Inbox and have not been previously set up for retrieving Other Email, you need to set it up for the first time here. Once configured, subsequent use of Check Other Email will retrieve your Other Email automatically.

To Set Up Other Email Account

  1. Click the Options link on the top horizontal menu bar.
    You are taken to the Options page.
  2. Click the Other Email Accounts link.
    You are taken to the Other Email Entries page, which shows the list of Other Email Accounts that you have already set.
  3. Click Add new entry link. You are taken to Add Other Email Account page.
  4. From 'Account:' drop down box choose your account type. For Yahoo! accounts you must enable Yahoo! POP access. Click here for more details
  5. In the 'Username:'field, type the member name that you use to access your Other Email Account.
    Example: If your Email address for that account is raja@hotmail.com then the Username would be
    raja.
    NOTE: This field is in general case-sensitive so make sure you have typed the letters in correct case.
  6. In the 'Password:' field, type the password that you use to access your Other Email Account.
    NOTE: This field is also in general case-sensitive so make sure you have typed the letters in correct case.
  7. If you have selected POP account type in 'Account:' field than you should fill in the 'Server:' field, which indicates the name of your ISP's or company's POP Mail server.
    NOTE: The name of the server can be obtained from your system or network administrator.
  8. The 'Port:' field is set to 110 by default. If your system or network administrator has told you to enter a different port number, then enter that number in this field.
  9. From 'Color:' radio buttons, choose background color of the row of the message from this account(for quick identification) or to specify color that is not listed, specify a custom HEX color code by choosing other.
  10. From the 'Folder:' drop down box, choose the name of the folder to which you want the Other Email messages to be delivered.
  11. If you want to apply your Ownmail Message Filters to messages of this Account then check the Check this to apply your message filters to messages of this account check box.
  12. If you want to leave messages of the this account on the mail server, uncheck the Check this to delete the message from the account server after downloading check box.

    NOTE: If you choose to leave messages on the server, it could happen that every time you check your Other Email, those messages are downloaded again, even if you have downloaded them one or more times. Ownmail downloads only NEW messages on the server. Ownmail always tries to mark the messages as 'Read' after downloading if your server supports that feature.
  13. Click Submit to save your the Other Email Account settings. Or
    Click Cancel to return to the Options page without saving your changes.
    You are taken back to the Options page.
NOTE: You cannot check another Ownmail account using check Other Email feature.

To Edit Other Email Account

  1. Click the Options link on the top horizontal menu bar.
    You are taken to the Options page.
  2. Click the Other Email Accounts link.
    You are taken to the Other Email Entries page.
  3. Click the Edit link to the right of the Other Email Account that you want to change.
    You are taken to the Edit Other Email Account page.
  4. Change the fields as you want. Change the password field only if you want to change the old password.
  5. Click Submit to save your the Other Email Account settings. Or
    Click Cancel to return to the Options page without saving your changes.
    You are taken back to the Options page.

To Delete Other Email Account setup

  1. Click the Options link on the top horizontal menu bar.
    You are taken to the Options page.
  2. Click the Other Email Accounts link.
    You are taken to the Other Email Entries page.
  3. Click the Delete link to the right of the Other Email Account you want to delete. Confirm the deletion in the Dialog box that pops up. The Account will be deleted from the list.

POP access to Yahoo!

To allow Ownmail to download your Yahoo! messages you must enable POP access to Yahoo! by logging in to your Yahoo! account and following the steps below.

To Enable POP access to Yahoo!

  1. If you are not already logged into Yahoo!, do so by going to http://mail.yahoo.com
  2. Click the Options link in the left frame.
    You are taken to the Options page.
  3. Click the POP Access & Forwarding link in right frame.
    You are taken to the Mail Forwarding and POP Access page.
  4. Click 'Yes' checkbox under Sign Up title and Select atleast one of the interests under Select your interests.
  5. Under Select your email delivery settings make sure you have checked 'Email client can read: HTML formatting'
  6. Click Finished button.
    You are taken to Mail Delivery Status page.
  7. Under 'Step 1' choose Web and POP Access and under 'Step 2' choose HTML messages (with graphics and links)
  8. Click Submit. Your POP access to Yahoo! is now enabled. You may now Logout(Signout) of Yahoo! for ever!

To Check Other Email Accounts

In your Inbox, click the Check Other Email link ONLY once. Ownmail will start the process to download your Other Email Account Messages. If any error occurs while downloading messages; a mail will be sent to you indicating the error that occured.

NOTE: You must click on the Check Other Email link each time you wish to check your Other Email Accounts.

NOTE: Clicking Check Other Email more than once in a short time span may create multiple copies of the same message in your Ownmail account.
