NOTE: This is a premium service and you would not be able to send Faxes unless you sign up for the service.

How do I signup for Email to Fax Service or Manage my account's Credit?

You can signup for Email to Fax service by paying online for the service using Credit card or Cheque.

You can start an account by pre-payment that you need to replenish before it goes to zero. You can check the status of the account by going to Email to Fax Preferences and Reports page.

To signup or manage Credit:
  1. Click the Options link on the top horizontal menu bar.
    You are taken to the Options page.
  2. Click the Email to Fax Direct link.
    You are taken to the Email to Fax Credit Management page.
  3. It shows your remaining credit(Pre-payment made minus Usage). This is zero if you have not yet signed up for the service.
  4. To view the tariff that you will be charged. Click on the link provided.
  5. Fill in the amount to be added in account in the textbox provided and click 'Done'.
  6. On the next page that appears select the mode of Payment you would like to make and press 'Continue' button.
  7. For Payment by 'Cheque/Draft', you will see Invoice on the next page that appears. Your account will be activated or credit will be updated after the realization of the 'Cheque or Draft'.
  8. If you wished to pay by 'Credit card', you are taken 'Payment gateway'. Please fill your Credit card details and press 'Make Payment'. After verifying your 'Credit Card' details your account will be activated or credit will be updated immediately.

To Compose a Fax Message

Composing an Email to Fax message is similar to composing an Email message. To send a fax to a particular number send an Email message to 'FAXNO@fax.now'.

For e.g., to send a fax to the number '91228353976'; send an Email to '91228353976@fax.now'.

NOTE: Country code and Area Code must be included in the fax number.

The details are given below:
  1. Click Compose on the top horizontal menu bar.
  2. In the 'To:' field type in the Faxmail address.
    Example: To: 91228353976@fax.now
    You may send multiple faxes by seperating addresses by commas(,)
  3. Type a subject of the message in the 'Subject:' field.
    You do not have to type a subject, however, a subject may help you identify the Fax message when you get confirmation that the fax is delivered to the destination.
  4. In the text box provided, type the text message that will go to the receipient as the fax.
    You may not type anything in the box if you are attaching a file to be faxed.
    You can attach in your fax message, any of the files mentioned below.
    Your fax will not be delivered if you attach any other file and you will receive 'INVALID' report.
  5. You can append your personal signature by clicking the "Add Signature" check box. NOTE: Domain Global Message is not appended to the fax message.
  6. If you want to keep a copy of your fax message, click the "Save a copy(in Sent Folder)" check box.
  7. Click any of the Send buttons to send your fax message. Or
    Click Cancel to cancel composing the fax message.

To Compose a Fax Message from external email program
Obtaining Email to Fax signature

You can compose an Email to Fax message from external email prorgam in the same way you compose a normal Email message and attach your Email to fax signature with the message. To send a fax to a particular number, send an Email message to 'FAXNO@ownmail_fax_domain'. You need to replace 'ownmail_fax_domain' with the domain that is specified when you obtain your email to fax signature.

For e.g., to send a fax to the number '91228353976'; send an Email to '91228353976@mail001.fax.ownmail.com'.

NOTE: Country code and Area Code must be included in the fax number.

The details to obtain Email to fax signature are given below:
  1. Click Options link on the top horizontal menu bar.
    You are taken to the Options page.
  2. Click Email to Fax preferences and Reports link.
    You are taken to the Email to Fax preferences page. Scroll down to section named Email to Fax Signature.
  3. Click Current Email to Fax signature link to obtain your current Email to fax signature. If you find that your Email to fax signature is compromised or misused by someone else, you can obtain a new Email to fax signature by clicking on Get fresh(new) Email to Fax signature link.
  4. Follow the instructions on the page that appears.
NOTE: You must keep your Email to fax signature file in a secure place. Anybody having access to it would be able to send Email to fax messages through your account.

About Reports and Preferences

When you send an Email to Fax message; Ownmail sends you two types of reports. First when your fax request has been accepted for the delivery and the second after the fax has been delivered to the destination.
You can disable any or both of the reports by setting your Email to Fax preferences.

NOTE: If you disable both the reports, you will still get the 'INVALID' or 'FAILURE' report if the fax request can not completed.

The Email to Fax preferences can be set as follows:
  1. Click the Options link on the top horizontal menu bar.
    You are taken to the Options page.
  2. Click the Email to Fax preferences and Reports link.
    You are taken to the Email to Fax preferences page.
  3. Select your preferences.
  4. Click Submit to save the information. Or
    Click Cancel to return to the Options page without saving your Email to Fax preferences.
    You are taken back to the Options page.

Viewing Consolidated Reports / Usage charges

If you have signed up for Email to Fax service then you can view consolidated reports or usage charges of faxes sent by you in the specified date range.

To do so:
  1. Click the Options link on the top horizontal menu bar.
    You are taken to the Options page.
  2. Click the Email to Fax preferences and Reports link.
    You are taken to the Email to Fax prefences page. Scroll down to section named Email to Fax Reports.
  3. If you want reports to be Emailed to you, click Email the report to me checkbox.
  4. Select the date range for the report and press 'View Consolidated Report' button to View Consolidated Reports OR press 'View Usage Charges' to View Usage Chages for that date range.
  5. Reports will be displayed on the next page or Emailed to you depending on your selection.

Using Email to Fax service for faxing Files

Simple! All you have to do is to send one or more of these files as attachments. Remaining procedure is the same as mentioned above.
The list of file formats/extensions currently supported is as below:

  1. Word Documents: '.doc', '.dot', '.rtf'.
  2. Excel Sheets: '.xls', '.xl*', '.csv', '.dbf', '.dif', '.wq1', '.slk', '.pab', '.wk*, '.*qy'.
  3. Powerpoint Presentations: '.ppt', '.pp*', '.pot'.
  4. Acrobat Documents:'.pdf'
  5. HTML Documents: '.htm', '.html', '.mht'.
  6. Image Files: '.tif', '.gif', '.jpg'.
These files, other than Image Files, will be converted to TIFF image files and will be mailed back to you. The actual faxed documents, as seen by the receiver of the fax, will look exactly the same as the pages in those files. You are supposed to view these files and give your confirmation only if you find the files to your satisfaction. On receiving your confirmation the files will be faxed to the required destination.
If you have an accompanying text or image file, it will be returned back to you as it is. These files need no conversion.

Disabling Confirmation of converted fax

When you send Email to fax messages, they are converted into 'faxable'(TIFF Image) format. For some file types, such as Excel Sheets,
these images can go into pages. Hence, to obtain your confirmation of faxing such files, the converted images are sent back to you. If you find images satisfactory, just reply to the message and images will be faxed to the destination. If you want such images to be sent directly without obtaining your confirmation, please goto Email to fax preference page and say 'No' to 'Confirm converted faxes' option.

Adding coverpage to a fax

This option will add a cover page to all your faxes. This coverpage will contain lines as shown below :

To: 91221234567@fax.now
From: abc@ownmail.com
Subject: Urgent !
Date: Wed Aug 15 14:57:28 2001

This additional lines will help your recepients know who the sender of the fax is.
